Welcome to Rockcliffe Park

Rockcliffe Park is the most beautiful and historic neighbourhood of Ottawa. Rockcliffe Park is also known as the Village to the residents. The Village is northeast of downtown Ottawa. It combines exceptional natural beauty, world-class heritage homes, and excellent public and private schools. All this is only a few minutes from shopping along Beechwood Avenue, the ByWard Market and Parliament Hill. The Ottawa River and the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway help to define the Park.

The Village of Rockcliffe Park was always planned to be a special place to live. The original plan from 1864 called for winding roads with large residential lots and no commercial development. There is still no commercial activity in the Village.

Rockcliffe Park has been the home to many Ottawa notables, including former prime ministers, senior civil servants, corporate leaders and many ambassadors to Canada. The Village is famous for its park-like setting, with majestic trees lining the narrow winding streets. When driving in Rockcliffe Park, it is like passing through a renowned estate.  Each home is unique in its design and natural setting. There are also parks, including the Centennial Gardens of the Village Green and the Jubilee Garden. The entire Village is designated as a Heritage Conservation District.

True Community Spirit

Rockcliffe Park has a very unique and well-established sense of community. The Rockcliffe Park Residents Association has dedicated volunteers who help foster a community spirit within the Village. The Association preserves and enhances its special heritage character and unique natural environment. It also represents the interests of Rockcliffe Park residents and works to benefit future generations. The Community Hall at 380 Springfield Rd. is an exceptional community resource. It is used for recreation programs, including bridge sessions, Ikebana lessons, exercise classes, lectures and children's camps.

The Rockcliffe Park Foundation

The Foundation safeguards and manages an endowment fund, encourages residents to build the endowment and provides grants for programs and services to benefit the community. Its focus includes conservation of the environment, Rockcliffe Park's green space, preservation of the heritage character of the Village and the promotion of a sense of community.

The Foundation supports developing keen community awareness and understanding of the nature and uniqueness of the village and a vibrant and sustained recreational and interests program that appeals to residents of all ages.

Dining with the Ambassadors

There are many community events held in Rockcliffe Park. One of these is the Dining with the Ambassadors. This event is the Foundation's most important fundraiser. Usually held every two years, The Foundation organizes a fundraising event called Dining with the Ambassadors. A dozen or so of the almost 70 Ambassadors and High Commissioners living in the Village very generously invite their Rockcliffe neighbours for dinner. Lasting friendships are made, and money is raised to fund the Rockcliffe Park Residents Association programs.
