Other restaurants in and around Manotick Main Street that also provide great menus and excellent service for a night out include The Vault Bistro, The Mill Tavern, La Piazza, The Millers Oven, and Kelly's Landing, which have all been able to open their doors to the public under the guidelines and restrictions set forth by the Government and health officials.

For those with a sweet tooth or who are looking for a special treat, Manotick is also home to a few favourite must-try bakeries. The Gingerbread Man on Tighe Street and Take Another Bite on Mill Street are two noteworthy places when it comes to sugary delight.

Coffee lovers unite! You don’t have to be in the big city to enjoy great coffee, the village offers a variety of coffee shops including 692 and Morning Owl. Transportation And Commuting In Manotick

Manotick is an accessible small village with a centre station that is generally walkable. For traveling further distances, although OC Transpo does provide routes that run through the village, most residents of Manotick recommend a car to provide ease of access in commuting. Just minutes away from the 416, it is easy to jump onto the highway for any long distance traveling, whether it be a road trip away for the weekend or a Monday morning commute to work. Prince of Wales and Hunt Club are also a short drive away and are often used to make way across the City of Ottawa. 

Historic Centre

Manotick is a community that comes with a great history. Coming from an Ojibwa word meaning “Island in the River”, Manotick was the name chosen by its original founders Moss Kent Dickinson and Joseph Merrill Currier. In the 1830s, following the construction of the Rideau Canal, Dickinson and Currier were credited for settling the village for the purposes of lodging, milling, and trading. The men built Watsons Mill and Dickinson House, located next to one another on the Rideau River, which remains standing today and is frequented by residents and visitors alike. Other sites such as the multiple Churches, the Ayres Building, and Weaver’s house highlight the beautiful architecture and antiquity that Manotick has come to be widely recognized for.


These are only a few of the buildings within the cities borders that hold great historical significance. Other areas and businesses such as The Mill Tavern, Manotick Garage, and multiple standing homes on O-Grady Street and Tighe Street underscore the city’s continued dedication to preserve and celebrate the history here.

Full-Service Manotick

While the population of Manotick is minimal in comparison to other suburbs or Ottawa, the amenities within the city are here to serve. Manotick is home to excellent local schools in the public and catholic sectors for both elementary and secondary students. Additionally, there is beautiful green space with an array of trees blanketing the area at A.Y.
